Privacy Policy
- HifzEcho has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
- Your routines, progress and listening history are stored only on your phone. We never receive them.
- To play recitations, your phone connects to Islamic Network’s audio servers, which see your IP address like any website would.
- We don’t sell or share personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
1. Who we are
HifzEcho is developed and published by CodeMasters Agency Inc., Hamilton, Ontario, Canada (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the HifzEcho Android app (the “App”) and the website hifzecho.com (the “Site”) handle, and why. If you have questions, email support@hifzecho.com.
2. Information stored on your device
The App saves the following in its private storage on your phone so it can work:
- Routines you create: the name, passage, mode, reciter, repeats, pause length and schedule.
- Memorisation progress that you mark yourself.
- A history of your recent listening and practice sessions (passage, result and time).
- Your language and display preferences.
This information never leaves your device. It isn’t sent to us, it isn’t included in Android cloud backups, and it isn’t copied during device-to-device transfer. You can erase it at any time from Settings & sources → Erase routines, progress and history, or by uninstalling the App.
3. Information we collect
Through the App: none. We don’t operate any server that receives your App data, and the App has no sign-in, analytics, crash reporting or advertising software built in.
Through the Site: the Site has no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. Our hosting provider processes standard request data (see Cloudflare below).
When you email us: we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply to you, for example to add you as a tester or answer a support question.
4. Third-party services
A few features depend on services run by other companies. They handle information under their own privacy policies.
| Service | When it’s used | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Islamic Network audio CDN Terms | Every time you play a recitation | The reciter and ayah being requested, plus standard connection data such as your IP address and device type. It does not receive your routines, progress or history. |
| Google Cast (Google Play services) Privacy Policy | Only if you connect a Google Nest or other Cast speaker | Connection and device information needed to find and control your speaker on your Wi-Fi network. The speaker streams audio directly from Islamic Network. |
| Cloudflare Privacy Policy | When you visit the Site | Standard request data such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, used to deliver the Site and protect it from abuse. |
| Google Play Privacy Policy | When you download or update the App | Google handles store downloads, and may share aggregated install and crash statistics with us. These don’t identify you. |
5. App permissions
The App asks only for what its features need. It doesn’t request access to your microphone, camera, location, contacts, photos or files.
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Internet and network state | Stream recitation audio and show a clear message when you’re offline. |
| Wi-Fi state and multicast | Find Google Nest speakers on your home network. Used only for casting. |
| Notifications | Show playback controls and tell you if a session couldn’t start. |
| Foreground media playback and wake lock | Keep a session playing with the screen off. |
| Alarms & reminders | Start routines you scheduled at the exact time you chose. Optional. |
| Run at startup | Restore your scheduled routines after the phone restarts. |
6. Advertising and tracking
The App shows no ads and doesn’t use an advertising ID. We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we don’t build profiles about you.
7. Sharing and selling
We don’t sell, rent or share personal information. The only time we’d disclose the limited information we hold (support emails) is if the law requires it.
8. Retention and deletion
- App data stays on your phone until you erase it in the App or uninstall the App. Because we never receive it, we can’t see, restore or delete it for you.
- Support emails are kept for up to 24 months after our last reply and then deleted. Ask us and we’ll delete them sooner.
- Site request logs are kept by Cloudflare under its own retention policy.
There’s no account to delete. Step-by-step instructions are on our support page.
9. Security
App data is kept in Android’s private app storage, which other apps can’t read. All network connections from the App and Site use encrypted HTTPS. Unencrypted connections are disabled in the App.
10. Children
HifzEcho is suitable for learners of all ages. Because the App doesn’t collect personal information from anyone, it doesn’t knowingly collect information from children under 13, or the age required in your country. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we’ll delete it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including Canada (PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25), the European Union and United Kingdom (GDPR), and California (CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move personal information about you, and to object to how it’s used. For data on your phone, you can exercise these yourself in the App. For anything else we hold, email us and we’ll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local privacy authority, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the effective date above. If a change affects how the App handles your information, we’ll also let you know in the App or on this Site before it takes effect.
